Course objectives
Goal of the course is to introduce students to the selected concepts of public administration with the focus on municipalities. Purpose of the course is to develop understanding of basic principles of public administration management and decision making, followed by the ability to see it in the context of public finance limitations.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course the student will understand basic differences between public and private administration resulting from their different roles, specifics of public administration decision making and it's practical implications, selected aspects of organization culture that occur in everyday practice and the purpose of administrative control, including selected instruments. Student will also acquire basic understanding of how Czech municipalities operate, including the ability to find current data regarding municipal budgets and understand what they mean.

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation in the form of lectures and tutorials, suggested literature for self-study and discussion of selected topics applied to practical examples during sessions. Following application of acquired knowledge in practically oriented written assignments.
Assessment methods
The course will be graded based on written exam, written assignment, and subsequent oral exam. In order to be allowed to take oral exam, student has to acquire in total at least 60% from both written assignment and written exam.

Teacher's information
Any form of cheating or other misconduct, such as taking out the exams, using forbidden gadgets, insufficient citation practices when writing assignment or plagiarism will be considered as the violation of course requirements and study regulations. Subsequently, disciplinary proceedings will begin, with the possibility of expulsion.
