Course objectives
The course aims to give students an insight into the individual structures of financial markets and forms of their functioning. Within the framework of money and capital markets, mainly instruments and products of these markets will be dealt with. A detailed analysis of forms, types and ways of securities trading allows students to gain deeper knowledge in this area. At the end of the course students should be able to: • - specify the financial system, its functions, subjects and their relations • - identify trends in the financial system • - describe financial markets • - characterize basic types of securities • - explain the nature of financial derivatives • - describe stock exchange system and the Prague Stock Exchange • - define the regulation of financial markets • - characterize indices of capital markets • - specify the basics of fundamental, technical and psychological analysis of shares • - describe the essentials of efficient markets theory • - define the collective investment scheme.

Teaching methods
Lectures, seminars (presentation of seminar projects at given issue and discussion to them, seminar project - Bloomberg). The students' knowledge is tested with one progress test.
Assessment methods
Conditions for incoming to exam: 1 written test (max. 20 points, min. 12 points), semester paper (max. 25 points, min. 15 points), seminar project (Bloomberg, max. 5 points, without minimum). Written exam (max. 50 points, min 30 points). A condition of successful course completion is to achieve at least 60% of 100 points. For the evaluation of students, the following scale is used: A 92 - 100%, B 84 - 91%, C 76 - 83%, D 68 - 75%, E 60 - 67%, F less than 60%. Any copying, recording or leaking tests, use of unauthorized tools, aids and communication devices, or other disruptions of objectivity of exams (credit tests) will be considered non-compliance with the conditions for course completion as well as a severe violation of the study rules. Consequently, the teacher will finish the exam (credit test) by awarding grade "F" in the Information System, and the Dean will initiate disciplinary proceedings that may result in study termination.
