Course objectives
This subjects provides an overall view of institutional economics including its historical development. It defines the difference between institutional economics and so-called main stream economics. The accent is put on the following topics: Anthropological foundations of neoinstitutional economics. Institutional economics as economics of transaction costs. Theory of ownership rights. Theory of contractual relations. Theory of vertical integration: markets and hierarchy. Modern corporations as a form of organization. Corporations as a structure of control. Theory of state (government) in institutional economics. Theory of institutional change. Institutional view of real socialism. Institutional view of economic transformation. Examination: oral.
