Course objectives
The subject is focused on the comparison of methodological approaches to the most important economic theories. Stress is given to the basic theoretical concepts in order to identify the strong and weak spots of individual schools and streams. The aim is to create deeper assumptions for studying the contemporary economy and understanding the context of its changes. The course content comprises the development of economic methodology as well as the basic methodological issues, such as: Comparison of the Classical school of political economy and the Neoclassical economy of Pre-Keynesian period. The development of neoclassical economics after Keynes. Methodology of J. M. Keynes' economics. The development of Keynesianism (Neo-Keynesianism, Post-Keynesianism, New Keynesianism). Institutionalism and Neoinstitutionalism. Methodological individualism of the Neo-Austrian school and contemporary economy. Neo-Ricardianism and its effect on the contemporary economy. Contemporary Marxist economy and its methodology. French structuralism - possibilities and the attitude crisis. Problem of economic development in the 20th century economics.
