Course objectives
Business Ethics (ETPO) This course will explore, in addition to the necessary explanation of principal issues of general and applied ethics, selected contemporary moral problems at the mid- and microlevels of economy and will also study stimuli for their practical solution. Principal topics include: Importance of morality and ethics, contrast of ethics and moralising. Universal characteristics of morality? Etiquette and ethics. Normative character of ethics. Process of moral assessment. Criterion of morality in different ethical concepts. General and applied ethics, economic and corporate ethics. Profit or morality? Ethical problems of personnel management (various forms of discrimination of recruitment and at work, corruption, violation of personal dignity and privacy, work assessment, whistle-blowing, dismissals etc.). Corporate ethical codes, their creation and implementation. Economic and ethical aspects of running a company (efficiency of moral and legal sanctions, the role of public opinion, lobbyism and of trade and professional associations). Credit requirements: active participation in seminars. Examination: oral.
