Course objectives
Actuarial Theory II (DSPM) This subsequent course introduces to distance-learning students the issue of net reserves and gross reserves since they are an important factor in insurance, being used in calculations of surrender, reduced insured amount as well as a share in profits. More space is then given to non-life insurance. Students will be shown the individual indicators necessary for premium calculations, they will study the theory of risk in non-life insurance, insurance premium calculations with the help of loss tables and estimates of loss rate, calculation of gross insurance premium for non-life insurance, estimate of insurance reserves on the basis of the Chain-Ladder method, calculation of an insurance company's solvency. Students will learn about the issue of a deductible clause of the insured in the case of occurrence of loss, and its forms. They will also learn about various forms of reinsurance of insurance companies by spreading risk between insurers and reinsurers. The instruction takes place in a computer laboratory to manage premium calculations for individual products of life and old age insurance. 2 hours of lecture are followed by 2 hours of exercise. Examination: written and oral.
