Course objectives
The Bachelor seminar presents an opportunity for students to become familiar with methods of approaches to writing a thesis as a scientific work, of properly conceiving the bachelor thesis, choosing the correct strategy and tactics of writing professional texts - i.e. of dealing with the project of thesis. Students will also learn to quickly and correctly read and process information sources and to write in accordance with publishing ethics. They will acquire knowledge of principles of professional-style writing. Last but not least they will get familiar with establishing, implementing and evaluating empirical investigation and formulating recommendations that result from that investigation. The seminar will finish with applying principles of successful presentation at the defence of the thesis with aspirations for wider application of the knowledge in practice.
Syllabus
  • 1.st meeting: introductory lecture - syllabus, seminar work conditions and assignment;
  • 2.nd meeting: seminar - discussion on samples of bachelor papers - individual seminar work;
  • 3.rd meeting: seminar work handover; seminar - discussion on the results of seminar work - individual projects of bachelor paper, self-study;
  • 4.-5.th meetings: seminar - discussion on the results of seminar work - individual projects of bachelor paper, self-study and individual work on bachelor paper, individual consultations, e-correspondence;
  • Students are encouraged to participate actively in presentations of other students.

Assessment methods
- SEMINAR WORK ELABORATION and DELIVERY on 1. April at the latest (opening part of bachelor work handed in in written form to tutor)
- SEMINAR WORK ACCEPTED BY TUTOR (evaluated as successfully completed and suitable and available for processing bachelor work).
Students receive credits.
