Course objectives

Thze course of Corporate Economics II immediately follows up the input of teaching of business economics in the context of the course of Corporate economics I. The course presents the issue of corporate functions and key activities, explains the typology of business activities and introduces their content. It shows production and distribution as the main functions of a company; the relationship between sales and marketing; and marketing policy tools. it also explains the basics of investment and financing: clarifying the differences between material and financial management process. The course points out links between managerial accounting and controlling. It focuses on general issues of company management, regardless of its affiliation to a particular field or industry, and its profit or non-profit orientation. Together with the previous course of Corporate Economics I, whose topics include mainly targets and construction of a company, the course provides a comprehensive view of a company and its functions.

The aim of the course is to provide students with basic theoretical and practical knowledge required in the business sphere. Since it is the second, i.e. final part of the introduction to business management, the focus is on the interconnectedness of knowledge based on a comprehensive view of the company reaching beyond the isolated approach connected with professional specialization. Mastering the concepts, relationships, context and methods used in the business in addressing challenges in the area of the objectives of a company, construction of a company, the method of appraising performance in the company, should prepare students for knowledgeable addressing of relevant business issues, based on synthetic-style thinking.

At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- define key business functions
- explain how the production system of a company is organized
- describe how the production in a company is planned
- know how the distribution in a company is planned
- identify and enumerate the basic tools used in the marketing field
- define the relationship between marketing and sales in a company
- express how finances and investments are structured in a company
