To register for the course, students must have either previously completed or be concurrently enrolled in either MPH_MEOB or MPH_AINT course. Secondly, to express your interest in taking the course, write a concise motivation letter (approximately 250-300 words) addressed to the course instructor.

Cíle předmětu
Gain a comprehensive understanding of how international trade practices impact environmental, social, and economic sustainability on a global scale. Analyze the role of international organizations in promoting sustainability within the global trade framework. Encourage the integration of economic, environmental, and social sciences to develop holistic solutions for promoting sustainability in international trade. Examine the environmental consequences of international trade and explore strategies to mitigate these impacts. Foster critical thinking on the ethical implications of international trade practices, including labor rights, fair trade, and the balance between economic growth and environmental stewardship.
Výstupy z učení
Students will be able to apply economic concepts & linking research to real world issue and understand the effects of global flows on society and the environment. Students develop subject-related and professional skills towards an international career and as global citizens. The course allows students to address common economic problems with a better understanding and communication of the local contexts for global challenge. Through cross-border dialogue with students in partner institutions, students will seek global solutions.

  • - Introductory session (27.9.2024, 16:00-17:00) and discussion (17:00-18:00) - Sustainability and the circular economy (7.10.2024, 15:00-16:00) - Nation Branding in sustainable international trade (7.10.2024, 14:00-15:00) - Environmental externalities (4.11.2024, 15:00-16:00) - Global Trade and the environment (4.11.2024, 14:00-15:00) Research topics for join projects will be introduced in the first session. These topics address environmental concerns with a variety of local effects and links to trade and international competition for technological advantage.

Výukové metody
The course is design as a Collaborative Online Learning course (COIL) that consists of online lectures and discussions (27.9., 7.10., 4.11.2024) and asynchronous communication and collaboration within COIL student groups. Collaborating and contributing institutions are Masaryk University, University of East Anglia (UK), University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (USA), and University of Navarra (Spain).
Metody hodnocení
Join project presentation and discussion involving mixed students from collaborating universities. Active participation.
