Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are to:
- make students aware of Czech environmental law in connection with business activity;
- analyze problems of land use planning, building procedure, environmental impact assessment, legal liability for damage to the environment and public participation;
- acquaint students with legal problems of protection of animals, air, and water, and legal problems related to waste disposal.

Through interactive learning students will become familiar with this special branch of law. Students will acquire knowledge which they may use in their future jobs.
Syllabus
  • Topics of the seminars:
  • 1. Introductory seminar: Law and entrepreneurship, social liability of firms (the Czech Republic).
  • 2. Land use planning.
  • 3. Right to information.
  • 4. Rules of Administrative Procedure.
  • 5. Application for a planning permit procedure and application for a building permit procedure.
  • 6. Public participation, EIA, SEA, IPPC.
  • 7. Attendance at judical proceedings.
  • 8. Civil law
  • 9. Commercial law
  • 10. Labour law
  • 11. Conservation of nature.
  • 12. Legal responsibility.
  • 13. Final seminar.

Teaching methods
Practice, discussion on solved cases, argumentation.
Assessment methods
The course finishes with a written exam. Students may use legal regulations (WITHOUT commentaries) at the exam.

"Any copying, recording or leaking tests, use of unauthorized tools, aids and communication devices, or other disruptions of objectivity of exams (credit tests) will be considered non-compliance with the conditions for course completion as well as a severe violation of the study rules. Consequently, the teacher will finish the exam (credit test) by awarding grade "F" in the Information System, and the Dean will initiate disciplinary proceedings that may result in study termination."
