Cíle předmětu
In this course, we will analyze successful cases of social entrepreneurship while developing competencies to create organizations that generate revenue while serving a social mission. Students will be provided with core theories and concepts of social entrepreneurship and innovation. Students will learn how to set-up and manage social entrepreneurial ventures, while focusing on social value creation, resources, impact, communities, and operational support structures. Students are given the opportunity to develop and design their own social entrepreneurial venture and will “pitch” their ideas to scale a social enterprise.
Výstupy z učení
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Apply nonprofit management principles to creating a social change model 2. Explain principles of designing a social innovation 3. Compare and contrast entrepreneurship models and business planning strategies 4. Generate a promising idea that is inclusive of client needs and diverse perspectives 5. Create a theory of social change based on “system thinking” 6. Interpret market and industry forces 7. Develop a realistic resource framework 8. Formulate a compelling case to gain support for your idea 9. Use presentation and writing skills to communicate a message clearly and effectively.

Teaching/learning methods: A combination of lectures, workshops and discussions between teachers and students, students with each other, as well as students and representatives of non-profit organizations.
