Course objectives
European Integration (PFEVIN) The course aims to provide students with an insight into the nature of the integration process in Western Europe (ECSC, Euroatom, EEC, ...). It further addresses the objectives and institutions in the EU, EU policy in the integration process context, mutual co-operation and regional economic integration of the associated countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the Central European Free Trade Area (CEFTA). The topic of the EU enlargement is topical (progress of talks, screening, position of the individual candidate nations, ...). The course will include: The stages of the integration process in Western Europe. The objectives of the EC and EU and their connections (three pillars). The role of institutions in the system of EU. EU budget. Complex integration activities in the EU (creation of the internal common market). From the common market to the European Economic and Monetary Union. EU policies in the context of the integration process (so-called common policies). EU policies in the context of the integration process (so-called vertical policies). Outer economic relations of the EU and the problem of EU competitiveness. Examination: written and oral.
