Course objectives

The Diploma Seminar is an opportunity for students to become familiar with ways of approaching writing the thesis as a way of processing professional piece of work. They will learn how to elaborate the thesis and for that they will use a project that they prepare on their own. In the ninth semester, as part of the PH DISA seminar and the KH DISA Diploma seminar for combined follow-up study, they get familiar with methods of formulating objectives of the thesis and the choice of appropriate methods.
Moreover they will learn quickly and correctly to read and process information sources. They will also learn how to methodically properly prepare, implement and evaluate empirical investigation and to formulate recommendations that result from them. In the tenth semester, in PHDIPS seminars and PHDIPS diploma workshops for the combined follow-up study, they gain further knowledge of the fundaments of professional-style writing.
They will learn to choose the correct strategy and tactics to write a scientific text and to proceed in accordance with publishing ethics. At seminars, students will also get familiar with principles of successful presentation of the thesis at the defence.
