Course objectives
The course consists of three topics: LEADERSHIP - This lecture examines the relationship between leadership ability and a person's level of effectiveness. Trust is identified as the basic foundation of leadership. In this lecture there will be a close look at (1) depth of character (2) building relationships with the right people (3) a leader's mastery of his field of work (4) leadership intuition and the ability to deal with intangibles (5) effectively applying experiences (6) true recognition by one's follower's of having leadership abilities CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING This lecture looks at real life business examples of recognizing problems; identifying, when possible, developing problems that are still in an embryonic stage and generating and implementing possible solutions. The lecture also deals with empowering employees to solve problems and creating an atmosphere that promotes the generation of good ideas from employees. Three types of problem solving are examined (1) analytical problem solving (2) judgmental problem solving and (3) creative or " alternatives" problem solving ENTREPRENEURSHIP This lecture focuses on developing and organizing a new business. It examines modern and creative financing techniques. Strong attention is devoted to managing people in a new business environment and to creating solid business plans. An analysis of financial projections and financial statements is also covered.
