Knowledge of the Czech language at least at level B1 according to the CEFR.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Students will develop their competencies not only in learning the Czech language but also in learning in general. They will take responsibility for their learning, learn to set goals according to their needs, select appropriate learning strategies, and monitor their learning process. Through self-reflection, they will be able to evaluate their learning and its outcomes. According to their needs, they will focus on areas in learning the Czech language that they need to develop for their university studies and future careers.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the students will be able to - plan, monitor and evaluate the process of learning Czech - take responsibility for the learning process - choose appropriate learning materials and methods - to produce reflective texts (both written and spoken) about their learning in Czech
Syllabus
  • In two introductory seminars, students will be introduced to the following topics: - the learning process - types of intelligence according to Gardner - language learning strategies - self-reflection - metacognition These introductory seminars will be held on September 20 and September 27, 2024, each at 2:00 pm and attendance is compulsory. During the semester, students will engage in group activities within the modules. The content of each module is based on the requirements and needs of the students enrolled in the course. Other activities are completed by students according to their individual study plan.

Assessment methods
The specific requirements will be determined by the students according to the choice of individual modules and their individual study plan. Two introductory seminars are compulsory. In total, the student must spend a minimum of 50 hours of active learning; the process and outcomes of the learning process will be documented in the form of a portfolio. Assessment will take place during the final advising sessions.
