The following knowledge is assumed: basic phrases for greeting, thanking, inviting, accepting and declining invitations, expressing approval and disapproval verb conjugations for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade verbs conjugation of être, avoir, aller, comprendre, connaître, écrire, venir, voir, dire, prendre, savoir, pouvoir, vouloir, devoir conjugation of reflexive verbs (se coucher, se réveiller,...) the future tense (futur proche) and the imperative basic numerals, ordinal numerals formation of the feminine and plural the use of the definite and indefinite articles, the distributive article in food question formation, use of interrogative expressions quel, qu'est-ce que, où, comment, qui, quand, pourquoi basic prepositions of place, prepositions with names of countries and cities, names of nationalities use of il y a contraction of the definite article with the prepositions à, de vocabulary to explain a journey names of days, months, seasons, expressing date, hours basic vocabulary relating to family, favourite activities, daily routines, food

Course objectives
This course is designed for those who are at A1 level and is a continuation of the French for Complete Beginners II course. In addition to our own materials, we work with the Tendances A1 textbook and the activities are aimed at developing all language skills (receptive - reading, writing; productive - listening, speaking; interaction; mediation).
Learning outcomes
The student understands and can use everyday expressions and basic phrases to meet specific needs. Can introduce himself/herself and others and ask simple questions, e.g. about where he/she lives, people he/she knows, things he/she owns and can answer such questions. Can make simple agreements if the partner speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to help.

  • We will continue the course from Unit 5 of this textbook. Topics covered: travel, shopping, work Grammatical topics: the imperative, partitif article, the past tense (passé composé), possessive and demonstrative pronouns, expressions of comparison
