Course objectives
The objective of this course is for students to develop the ability to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. They will be able to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. They will be able to understand and produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. They will be able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

  • Future (will, going to, present continuous)
  • Present perfect
  • Passive
  • Modals and conditionals (0,1,2)
  • Relative clauses
  • Adjectives – active and passive (-ing, -ed), comparison
  • Adverbs – comparative, superlative
  • Nouns – articles, countability, quantifiers, partitives (none, (n)either, both, all)
  • Infinitive of purpose
  • Verbs + doing, to do, do
  • Phrasal verbs
Assessment methods
Credit requirements: active participation in the classes (a maximum of 2 absences is permitted), fulfilling the teacher's requirements (homework, mid tests, etc.), a final test (min. 60%)
