Course objectives
The aim of the course is a) to teach students to solve professional and research problems in the fields of business and management using scholary publications and primary and secondary data; b) to teach students to think critically about existing scientific knowledge and data obtained using various research methods. In the short term, the course helps students write a quality bachelor thesis. From a long-term perspective, it prepares them to work with new knowledge in the field and to solve new problems in various positions in companies or in research.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- design a method to obtain valid primary data useful for solving a research or managerial problem,
- select an appropriate sample to draw valid conclusions for the enterprise or for a selected population of enterprises or individuals,
- use primary data or previously published findings to solve a research or managerial problem,
- evaluate the costs and economic benefits of own proposals,
- adhere to the rules of research and publication ethics.
Syllabus
  • Teaching takes place in three forms. The first is writing a thesis under the supervision of a consultant. The second form consists of reading the textbook and recommended literature on the methodology of social science research and solving of professional problems in the fields of business and management. The third form consists of records from seminars for full-time students and of two tutorials with possibility to consult key topics with teachers from Department of corporate Economy.

    3. Methods of data collection
    - How to choose a suitable method of data collection
    - Why data can be unreliable
    - How (not) to formulate questions in the questionnaire and interview

    4. Research ethics, ethics of writing academic manuscripts
    5. Data analysis
    - When it is and when it is not appropriate to use statistical analyses
    - Standards of work with statistical methods in business, management and business informatics

    6. Economic evaluation of proposals
    - How to economically evaluate a solution of managerial problems
    - How to take into account the economic aspects of the recommendations resulting from research

Assessment methods
Outputs from the course are a) final test and b) half of the text of the thesis.
The test is based on the content of seminars that are available in Interactive syllabus. The test is written online via IS, has multiple-choice questions, and the students are allowed to use any literature and their notes when writing. To successfully complete the test, the students should get at least 40% of points.

The credits are awarded by the supervisor of the thesis. Credit will be awarded to a student if the student a) passes the test, b) submits a part of his / her thesis.
The student should submit about half of the thesis, after at least one consultation. The expected range and the exact deadline are agreed with the supervisor at the beginning of the semester.

Any copying, keeping a record of tests or carrying the tests out, using forbidden aids including any communication devices or any other breach of objectivity of the exam is regarded as a failure to meet the obligations of the subject and as a serious breach of study regulations. As a consequence, the teacher grades the student with "N" and the dean is allowed to initiate a disciplinary action, which might lead to the termination of the studies.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is a) to teach students to solve professional and research problems in the fields of business and management using scholary publications and primary and secondary data; b) to teach students to think critically about existing scientific knowledge and data obtained using various research methods. In the short term, the course helps students write a quality bachelor thesis. From a long-term perspective, it prepares them to work with new knowledge in the field and to solve new problems in various positions in companies or in research.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- design a method to obtain valid primary data useful for solving a research or managerial problem,
- select an appropriate sample to draw valid conclusions for the enterprise or for a selected population of enterprises or individuals,
- use primary data or previously published findings to solve a research or managerial problem,
- evaluate the costs and economic benefits of own proposals,
- adhere to the rules of research and publication ethics.

  • Teaching takes place in three forms. The first is writing a thesis under the supervision of a consultant. The second form consists of reading the textbook and recommended literature on the methodology of social science research and solving of professional problems in the fields of business and management. The third form consists of records from seminars for full-time students and of two tutorials with possibility to consult key topics with teachers from Department of corporate Economy.

The test is written online via IS, has multiple-choice questions, and the students are allowed to use any literature and their notes when writing. To successfully complete the test, the students should get at least 40% of points.

The credits are awarded by the supervisor of the thesis. Credit will be awarded to a student if the student a) passes the test, b) submits a part of his / her thesis.

The test is written online via IS, has multiple-choice questions, and the students are allowed to use any literature and their notes when writing. To successfully complete the test, the students should get at least 40% of points.

The credits are awarded by the supervisor of the thesis. Credit will be awarded to a student if the student a) passes the test, b) submits a part of his / her thesis.
The student should submit about half of the thesis, after at least one consultation. The expected range and the exact deadline are agreed with the supervisor at the beginning of the semester.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is a) to teach students to solve professional and research problems in the fields of business and management using scholary publications and primary and secondary data; b) to teach students to think critically about existing scientific knowledge and data obtained using various research methods. In the short term, the course helps students write a quality bachelor thesis. From a long-term perspective, it prepares them to work with new knowledge in the field and to solve new problems in various positions in companies or in research.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- prepare a review of scholary publications on the topic of business, management or business informatics,
- identify the most salient problems in research designs and in conclusions of the scholary papers,
- formulate a research or managerial problem and justify the need to solve it,
- propose a method for obtaining valid primary data useful for solving a research or managerial problem,
- use new data and knowledge described in scholary papers to solve research and managerial problem,
- evaluate the costs and economic benefits of their proposals,
- follow the rules of research and publication ethics.
Syllabus
  • Teaching takes place in two forms. The first is writing a bachelor thesis under the supervision of a consultant. The second form consists of 9 lectures focused on the methodology of social science research and solving of professional problems in the fields of business, management and business informatics.

The aim of this course is the preparation and implementation of the first phase of the thesis.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to: • to select the correct strategy and tactics of scientific writing, • to acquire and to apply the theory and methods of solution of the problem, • to retrieve, to process and correctly interpret the necessary factual information, • to implement and to evaluate empirical investigation, including recommendations one follows, • to act in the spirit of publishing ethics, • to adopt the principles of professional-style writing.

The aim of this course is the preparation and implementation of the first phase of the thesis. After completing the course, students will be able to: • to select the correct strategy and tactics of scientific writing, • to acquire and to apply the theory and methods of solution of the problem, • to retrieve, to process and correctly interpret the necessary factual information, • to implement and to evaluate empirical investigation, including recommendations one follows, • to act in the spirit of publishing ethics, • to adopt the principles of professional-style writing.

  • Seminars: 1. Sense and goals of the final work procedures in its processing, work with literature, databases, etc. 2. Use of qualitative methods. 3. Principles of survey. 4. Enjoyment of quantitative methods. Individual consultation with the supervisor during the semester.

Cílem předmětu je realizace přípravy a první etapy řešení bakalářské práce. Po absolvování předmětu student bude schopen • zvolit správnou strategii a taktiku psaní odborného textu, • osvojit si a aplikovat teorii a metody řešení předmětného problému, • vyhledávat, zpracovávat a správně interpretovat potřebné faktografické informace, • realizovat a vyhodnotit empirické šetření, včetně doporučení, které z nich plyne, • postupovat v duchu publikační etiky, • osvojit si zásady odborného stylu psaného textu.

Course objectives
The aim of this course is the preparation and implementation of the first phase of the thesis. After completing the course, students will be able to: • to select the correct strategy and tactics of scientific writing, • to acquire and to apply the theory and methods of solution of the problem, • to retrieve, to process and correctly interpret the necessary factual information, • to implement and to evaluate empirical investigation, including recommendations one follows, • to act in the spirit of publishing ethics, • to adopt the principles of professional-style writing.

  • Seminars: 1. Sense and goals of the final work procedures in its processing, work with literature, databases, etc. 2. Use of qualitative methods. 3. Principles of survey. 4. Enjoyment of quantitative methods. Individual consultation with the supervisor during the semester.

  • Spolupráce s vedoucím BP. SAMOSTATNÉ STUDIUM doporučené literatury– časový harmonogram studia je individuálně volitelný studentem. Volba metod analýzy předmětu řešení.V případě použití empirického šetření také upřesnění formulace hypotéz nebo výzkumných otázek, jejich operacionalizace a vytvoření nástrojů empirického výzkumu. Volba výzkumného vzorku na objektu výzkumu a posouzení jeho vypovídací schopnosti. Vyhodnocení a implementace získaných poznatků pro řešení BP.

  • SELF-STUDY of recommended literature of all topics of the introductory lecture - time schedule is individual, depending on students.
  • SEMINAR WORK ELABORATION IN THE FORM TO THE INTRODUCTORY PART OF THE BP PROJECT
  • Seminar work assignment The topic of the seminar work: "INTRODUCTORY PART TO THE BACHELOR PAPER PROJECT" and it will contain: Formulation of the subject of BP, formulation of the goal of BP, outline of methodology that will be used for the solution of the managerial problem. (In case of empirical research it is necessary to formulate the hypothesis, which will be verified during the solution of BP).

The student should be able to learn to quickly and correctly read and process information sources and keep to the rules of publishing ethics. Students will acquire knowledge of principles of professional-style writing. Last but not least the student should be able to establishing, implementing and evaluating empirical investigation and formulating recommendations that result from that investigation. At the end of this course, student should be able to demonstrating their awareness of principles of successful presentation at the defence of the thesis. The ultimate objective would be for students to be able to apply the knowledge in practice.

  • 1.st meeting: introductory lecture - syllabus, seminar work conditions and assignment;
  • SELF-STUDY of recommended literature of all topics of the introductory lecture - time schedule is individual, depending on students.
  • SEMINAR WORK ELABORATION IN THE FORM TO THE INTRODUCTORY PART OF THE BP PROJECT
  • Seminar work assignment The topic of the seminar work: "INTRODUCTORY PART TO THE BACHELOR PAPER PROJECT" and it will contain: Formulation of the subject of BP, formulation of the goal of BP, outline of methodology that will be used for the solution of the managerial problem. (In case of empirical research it is necessary to formulate the hypothesis, which will be verified during the solution of BP).

Course objectives
At the end of this course, student should be able to approach writing the bachelor thesis as a scientific work; The student should be able to properly conceiving the bachelor thesis; The student should be able to choosing the correct strategy and tactics of professional text writing - of managing the project of thesis.
