Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to understand the process of setting objectives and appropriate instruments in economic policy;
to highlight risks in the form of government failures;
to enable orientation in problems of role of the state in market economy;
to analyze instruments of stabilization policy and various approaches to this policy;
to analyze various types of microeconomic policy and its economic consequences;
to delineate main economic coordination mechanisms and explain causes of inefficiency of centrally planned economies;
to explain main pillars of transition process in the Czech Republic

Economic Policy (DSHP) The course is designed to form the basic preconditions both for learning the theory of economic policy and acquiring practical knowledge in particular. The subject will enable the students to grasp the role of the government in market economy, in the formulation and checking of general rules of governing economic system operation, activity of the decision making centre etc. The character of the course is synthesising. The basic content is as follows: theory and practice of economic policy, methodical, normative and institutional foundations of economic policy, objectives, instruments and subjects of economic policy, decisions and recommendations of economic policy, macroeconomic policy and basic principles of regulation, microeconomic economic policy and forms of microeconomic regulation. Examination: oral.
