Course objectives
The course follows the Mathematics I course. The aim of the subject is to introduce the principal mathematical means necessary to formulate and solve some economic problems. The graduates should understand and be able to use basic terms and methods of differential calculus of single variable and more variables, integral calculus of functions with a single variable, including infinite integrals, progressions and series. Differential equations are also introduced.
Syllabus
  • Progressions and series. Arithmetic and geometric progression. Limit of real progression. Infinite series. Function of single variable. Limit of real function. Derivatives. Composed and inverse function.
  • Differential and Taylor's theorem. Extremes and inflex points. L'Hospital's rule. Characteristics of functions. Integral calculus. Indefinite integral.
  • Definite integral. Methods for the definite integral and applications. Infinite integral. Function of more variables. Graphic visualization.
  • Limit and continuity. Partial derivatives. Total differential. Taylor's theorem. Extremes of functions of more variables. Multiple integral. Introduction to differential equations.
