Course objectives
Regional Economy and Policy (KRREPO) The course provides students with the basic knowledge of the spatial aspects of economic processes, possibilities of and limits to solving them. Concentrating on efficiency criteria, the course covers the historical development of society s spatial organisation and tools for its control in Europe. It deals with the approach to localisation of economic activities. It applies the conventional methods of appraisal of national economy and enterprises to the level of regions. The principal methods explaining some regional aspects are also presented. Attention is given to the issues of regional public administration. An inseparable part of the course is the problem area of formation and implementation of regional and local policy. Examination: oral (completed seminar essay required).
