Course objectives
Subject makes clear the way of formation of statistical information and the practical surveys in the economic area. It illustrates the possibilities and limits of interpretation of statistical indicators, including the comparability of statistical indicators across the space and time. Knowledge gained in the subject help students with orientation in the official data necessary for their final thesis.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- explain the way in which statistical information is generated;
- critically evaluate the usage of statistical indicators;
- search for statistical data in official sources;
- to compare the development of statistical indicators in time and space;
Syllabus
  • 1. Aims and objectives of economic statistics. Adequation gap. Statistical data quality. 2. Types of statistical indicators. Indices as a tool of indicators' comparison across the space and time. 3. Labour market statistics. 4. Price statistics. 5. Statistics of selected industries. Business tendency surveys. 6. Gross domestic product and other macro-economic aggregates. 7. Productivity estimates.
