Cíle předmětu
Main goal of this course is to introduce students to the current issues in the subject of public policy. Topics cover different areas in which the role of government is highly important but the policy is mostly undereducated. The materials presented in the course are exclusively based on the recently published papers of recognized scholars. The course will put an emphasis on empirical research and encourage students to elaborate selective case studies into class presentations.
Výstupy z učení
At the end of the course students should be able to:
* understand and explain the development and role of tax policy,
* assess different methods of distributional and economic reforms,
* use acquired knowledge of present development of public sector and deduce impacts of future development,
* clarify various methods of public sector evaluation,

Výukové metody
The course will put an emphasis on empirical research and encourage students to elaborate selective case studies into class presentations.
Metody hodnocení
Students are expected to attend class regularly, to read the required readings, and to do in-class assignments. Grading is based on class presentation (20 points), topic discussion (2x10 points), class participation (2 points per class, max 20 points) and final exam (40 points). Final exam is organized in the last week of semester at the class.

Final grades are based on the overall score: A (more than 91 points), B (81 – 90), C (71 – 80), D (61 – 70), E (55 – 60), F (less than 55 points)
