Cíle předmětu
The objective of the course is to give students the knowledge of recent issues, concepts and principles of operations management. The course itself can be divided into three parts. The term of operations management, its role and major tasks are explained in the beginning of the course. The second part deals with the question of planning and designing productive processes in a factory. The third part describes how the productive systems operate. Students also get familiar with several methods and tools used in this field.
Having passed the course, the students would be able:
-To understand the role of operations in the process of value creation.
-To explain the linkages between strategic, tactical and operational level of company management.
-To know how to plan and design production processes and what are the basic methods used in this field.
-To understand the basic concepts and tool used by management in production process.
-To understand how operations relates to other business functions

  • 1. Strategy: (Maintaining an operational strategy to support competitive advantage of a company)
  • 2. Quality: (Focusing on quality in operational decision making)
  • 3. Product and Services: (Designing quality products and services)
  • 4. Processes, Technologies, and Capacity: (Setting up process so that it works smoothly and efficiently)
  • 5. Facilities: (Setting up facility so that it works smoothly and efficiently)
  • 6. Forecasting: (Predicting customer demand)
  • 7. Aggregate Planning: (How much to produce and when to produce it)
  • 8. Resource Planning: (Planning capacity and other resources)
