Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to understand the basics of statistical inference;
to learn the basic testing procedures;
to familiarize with statistical software;
Syllabus
  • Normal as well as derived exact distributions with quantile tables and properties.
  • Law of large numbers, central limit theorem .
  • The basic terms of inductive statistics, random sampling, sample statistic.
  • Point estimator and interval estimator of population parameter or parametric function.
  • Statistical hypotheses testing.
  • Parametrical tasks conected with normal random sample.
  • Parametrical tasks conected with two independent normal random samples.
  • Parametrical tasks conected with one alternative and two independent alternative (zero-one) random samples.
  • Analysis of variance.
  • Simple linear regression.
  • Introduction to analysis of correlation.
  • Qualitative variables - independence testing.

Examination is in written form. The assumptions for taking an exam are: adequately active attendance at exercises and computer sessions, computer-aided solution of semester paper.
