Předmět je určen pro studenty učitelství informatiky a výpočetní techniky pro střední školy. Poskytuje základní znalosti v oblasti vědy o edukačních procesech, a to zejména v problematice edukační reality, edukačních procesů, v osobnosti edukanta a edukátora, v kurikulu jako obsahu školní edukace, v problematice učebnic, v profilu edukace ve školní třídě, v evaluaci vzdělávacích výsledků, v problematice školy jako instituce pro řízenou edukaci, v problematice pedagogického výzkumu, v mezinárodní komparaci vzdělávacích systémů.
