Course objectives
Students will acquire basic knowledge of biology with accent on cytology and histology critical to physiotherapeuts. They will be also acquainted with fundamentals of genetics. Students will be able to characterize structure of an animal cell, basic tissues and they will understand the microscopic structure of selected organs in relation to their function.
Syllabus
  • 1. Living substance, acellular and cellular organisms, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, structure of eukaryotic cell.
  • 2. Cell cycle, genetic information and its expression, cell differentiation.
  • 3. Tissues, their origin and development. Organs, organ systems.
  • 4. Epithelial tissue, integumentary system.
  • 5. Connective tissue, skeletal system.
  • 6. Muscle tissue, muscular system.
  • 7. Nervous tissue, nervous system.
  • 8. Sensory organs.
  • 9. Body fluids, cardiovascular system.
  • 10. Endocrine system.
  • 11. Digestive system.
  • 12. Urinary system, respiratory system.
