Course objectives
The aim of the course is: to educate students so that they are able to aply knowledge and skills of general, developmental and social psychology into physical activity and sports environment. This will be incorporated with the sociology of sport. Its subjec is to present sport as social-cultural phenomenon reflecting dynamics of the modern world, intersts and scitivties of mankind. The task for sociology of sport is to descrive and explain socially and culturally determined role of sport in society.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- use basic psychodiagnostic tools for basic diagnostics of sportsmen, PE teachers and trainers
- analyse psychological problems in sports performance
-distinguish particular stages of motor learning (needs) from the point of view of sports psychology
-use regulatory measures for regulation of pre-start state and psychological failure
-use principles of mental hygiene of sportsmen in order to maintain the balance of his/her personality
- to apply his/her knowledge about ralations between sport and society
- ask critical questions about functions of sport in social life
define the topical and variable problems of sport.

  • Personality of a sportsman - abilities in relation to sports activity
  • Diagnostics of sportsman´s personality - temperament, performance motivation, attention, concentration, aggression, aspiration, etc.
  • Stages of motor learning, Plato effect and forgetting curve
  • Pre-start, start and competition states, psychological failure
  • Regulatory measures and principles of regulation of sportsmen
  • Sport and mental health, mental hygiene of sportsmen
  • Aggression in sport
  • Asertiveness and its use in sports area
  • Coaching, tasks of a coach, dyadic interaction
  • Psychomotricity and its use in work with sportsmen
  • Ontogenesis of men in relation to sport activities

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation by means of lectures and seminars, practical exercise, self-study.
Assessment methods
Paper - protocols with using practical psychodiagnostic methods - prerequisit for oral exam. Oral examination consisted from 3 domains: a) problém solving, b)general topics, c) motor learning 80% praticipation on seminars.
