Course objectives
The aim is to acquaint students with basic concepts, knowledges and approaches in ethics, environmental ethics, sport ethics and also with concept of social responsibility and to apply them to the moral promlems in sport.
Learning outcomes
On the end of the course student will be able to: understand to genesis and function of morality; know basic concepts, approaches and problems of ethics and environmental ethics; adopt responsibility for himself, his acts and products; comprehend ethics as theoretic discipline which reflects morality and be able to differentiate ways of this reflection (descripive ethics, methaethics, normative ethics, aplicated ethics.
Student will be able to: describe elemental problems of business, consumer and environmental ethics; distinguish different approaches in environmental ethics; adopt tool for making decisions in situations of difficult moral dilemmas.
Syllabus
  • 01. Ethics as part of philosophy and its contemporary cooperation with empirical sciences (neurosciences, evolutionary biology, cognitive psychology etc.). Basic thesis of empirical ethics 02. Elemental concepts and their connections 03. Origin of morality from natural roots, cultural determination of morality, social function of morality 04. Descriptive ethics, methaethics, normative ethics, aplicated ethics 05. Theories of normative ethics as ways how to give reasons for moral conviction 06. Aplicated ethics – sport ethics 07. Aplicated ethics – business ethics, consumer ethics 08. Aplicated ethics – ethics of human resources, social responsibility of business organizations, fair trade 09. Environmental ethics – biocentrism, ecocentrism, deep ecology 10. Environmental ethics – antropocentrism, zoocentrism, theocentrism 11. Reasons for refusal of ethics (sociobiology) and environmental ethics (neoliberal economist – Simon, Klaus)
