Course objectives
Main aim of the subject Applied kinesiology is to introduce students to human locomotor system and its central and peripheral control incl. available non-invasive and non-pharmacological interventions. It also deals with soft and hard tissues response to specific work load in a form of adaptation and prevention of maladaptation. The subject also focuses on kinesiology of particular motor segments of human trunk and extremities.
Learning outcomes
Students will achieve basic knowledge of human locomotor control incl. available therapeutic interventions. They will know basic tissue mechanisms of adaptation to physical exertion. The students will also get oriented in basic topographic anatomy and physiology of particular motor segments of human body.
Syllabus
  • Motor control and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and inhibition at cortical, subcortical and spinal level.
  • Mechanisms of adaptation and maladaptation of soft and hard tissues of motor apparatus to physical exertion - skin, subdermal tissue, fascias, muscles, cartilages, bones.
  • Kinesiology of axial organ - dynamic movement, active and passive stability of motor segments of trunk.
  • Kinesiology of upper extremity - dynamic movement, active and passive stability of motor segments of upper extremity.
  • Kinesiology of lower extremity - dynamic movement, active and passive stability of motor segments of lower extremity.
