Course objectives
This course is intended as a social scientific overview of the strategic and security perspectives of the Czech Republic in European and global context. Students should be able to use various future research methods in relation to the national security research. They should be able to evaluate contemporary trends in various security sectors and to assessed their future develompment. Discussions with security experts are included in this course.

Teaching methods
The course takes the form of both lectures and seminars. There are explained research methods and models of strategic scenarios within lectures, which are further discussed during seminars. Presentation of outlines of students' seminar works is a part of a seminar, as well as presentations by professionals in the sectors.
Assessment methods
Students will receive a final letter grade (A-F) for the semester based on the following components: 6 points referate; 18 points seminary thesis; 6 points reports from expert lectures, 30 final written exam. Grading: 56-60: A; 51-55: B; 46-50: C; 41-45: D; 36-40 E; 35-0: F.
