Cíle předmětu
Misunderstanding of differences and specifics in different EU-regions creates unnecessary friction and may result in disputes. Besides the primary goal of providing orientation on energy security framework and challenges to the students, this summer school also aims to encourage dialogue in which the participants can discuss common positions and thus facilitate overcoming certain ideological gaps between different attitudes and approaches to the selected issues of the summer school. Even at this small-scale event we can positively affect the long-term problem of friction and misunderstanding between European Union states policies` and the policy of the European Union as a single body.
Osnova
  • The summer school will last six full working days, based on an intensive residential program. Each day will have its own topic and will consist of several lectures on that topic. To ensure objectivity and multi-opinion perspective, we selected the lecturers from many EU-member states, including the Czech Republic, Germany, United Kingdom, and Poland. To provide a broader scope of understanding the issues by comparing them with US energy and environmental policy, a US based lecturer will take part at the summer school. One of the six days will be devoted to a field trip to the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant. In line with their home university policy, students can earn 4 ECTS credits if all the requirements are fulfilled. Together with the 4 ECTS credits students also receive a Certificate of Attendance. Lectures will take place in English. There are 5 lecture days of 3 in-class units per day. Additionally, the study of a 4 ECTS course includes 10 hours of field visit, 10 hours of group work and 6 hours of project work.
