Course objectives
The so called European Refugee Crisis has evolved to be one of the most actively debated topics in European affairs. The press coverage in the EU Member States shows controversial opinions, ideas and suggestions. However, contemporary press reading raises many questions, as the underlying EU policies and law are extremely complex and hard to grasp. The one-week seminar introduces to the political and legal background of EU-mechanisms by elaborating on – and answering – ten “frequently asked questions” connected to this debate. The course will discuss English literature as well as relevant EU-documents and students will be asked to prepare own inputs and short papers.
