Course objectives
Module absolvents will be acknowledged with chosen basic text of environmentalism which may be widely applied during their further studies at the Department of Environmental Studies. Despite the fact, that many tough courses is linked to mentioned texts, their systematic study is not so far in complete offered to student.
Module will also focus on development of students abilities to formulate argument texts, competence of critical thinking and academic discussion.
Not in the last order the module will contribute to the deeper understanding of the roots of environmental problems.
Syllabus
  • To succesfully pass the module, significant home preparation of the students and the consultations will be needed. For separate lesson will be demanded knowledge about studied part of the selected czech or English text. Students will have to work on short written reaction to the given text and prepare two questions before every lesson. At the beginning of every lesson, selected part of the text will be placed to its context. Followingly, prepared reactions will be disscussed and the prepared questions will be worked on. The shape of every lesson may be nevertheless subject of change, reflexing the form of texts and demands of participating students. Module will be taught in Czech.

Predisposition for succesfull passing of the module is preparation for lessons. The module will be finalised by debate on particular topics and texts or essays written during the semester.
