Course objectives
The aim of the course is to show variety of views on international development and to define one's role as a global citizen. In the first part of the course we will focuse on indetifying of preconditions on which our perception about development and generally welfare is based on. We will consider what the directions are for achieving such a welfare in terms of economic mainstream. Within the next part we will familiarize via simulation game with possible consequences of this approach in reality, on the basis of searching for conflict between mainstream economy preconditions and selected actual consequences of international trade. In the third part we will limit this perspective on specific topic and focuse on clothing production which we will examine from human rights, social justice and mutual interdependecne perspective and also from the point of view of our own moral principles framework. Finally we will deal with the questions what might different ways to welfare be within current system and outside it and how it is possible to participate on change by following these ways. Together we will search for consequences of various ways of activism.

  • 1. Preconditions of various concepts of development, 2. Preconditions of current international trade system, 3. Garment industry from perspective of human rights, mutual interdependence and social justice, 4. Tools for supporting informed and reflected actions in global context, 5. Different ways to welfare 1, 6. Different ways to welfare 2, 5. Colloquium.
Teaching methods
The course is divided into blocks, classes are interactive - using methods of active learning (discussion, simulation game, group work) and programme "With reading and writing to critical thinking".
