Cíle předmětu
In the US presidential election campaign 2016, Donald J. Trump emerged as an insurgent candidate promising a radical break with the country’s foreign policy traditions. After one year in the White House it is time to take stock. Has Trump’s “America First” rhetoric and agenda reshaped US foreign policy? Has the US abandoned old allies and accommodated rivaling great powers? Has Washington walked away from the liberal international order of its own making? What does the Trump presidency mean for the US and the world? The seminar analyzes select issue areas of US foreign policy to provide answers. It will combine lecture-type briefings with interactive discussion formats. Participants are advised to prepare for the seminar with the reading recommendations listed below. This seminar takes place from March 19 to 23, 2018, and is made possible by the EU’s Erasmus+ staff mobility program.
