Course objectives
This course is intended as an introduction into the political extremism and radicalism. Main objective of the course is to explain contemporary conceptualization of political extremism and radicalism in Czech Republic and Europe. Students should understand and to be able to explain conception and theoretical questions in various kinds of political extremism, radicalism and analysis of anti-extremist policy.

  • 1. Research of political extremism and radicalism 2. Theory and typology of political extremism and radicalism; 3. Right-wing political extremism and radicalism I. (nationalistic ultraconzervatism); 4. Right-wing political extremism and radicalism II. (neo-fascist extremism and neo-nazism); 5. Right-wing political extremism and radicalism III. (New right radicalism); 6. Left-wing political extremism and radicalism I. (anarchism); 7. Left-wing political extremism and radicalism II. (communism); 8. Left-wing political extremism and radicalism III. (New left radicalism); 9. Environmental extremism and radicalism; 10. Ethnic and regional extremism and radicalism; 11. Religious extremism and radicalism I. (monotheistic radicalism); 12. Religious extremism and radicalism I. (sects and cults); 13. Politics against extremism and radicalism 14. Final exam

Assessment methods
The program is composed of two sessions and each week study of literature: Students will receive a final letter grade (A-F) for the semester based on the following components: final written exam including 10 questions (each 6 points). Grading: 56-60: A; 51-55: B; 46-50: C; 41-45: D; 36-40 E; 35-0: F.
