Cíle předmětu
This course will investigate how environmental communication processes like stakeholders meetings, environmental impact assessments, environmental education processes, environmental political debates can be facilitated. It will look into different possibilities of programming communication about environment, the "why"s and it will give students the chance to investigate and train their own facilitation skills.

  • - Participants can facilitate in simple communication settings
  • Times
  • Every two weeks, Monday, 10:00 - 13:30 hours.
  • Students are expected to attend all blocks, as facilitation is not something that can be learned from books, but only by interaction. The methods used will be highly interactive and participative. The seminar blocks will not exist of lectures, but of interactive group work. Also students need to count with intensive homework between the seminar sessions. The complete seminar will take place in English.
  • The course will be examined orally on the basis of the work done during the blocks and background literature.

Informace učitele
Classes take place in the room J32, 10:00-13:30 in the following days: 2006, October 9th + 16th, November 6th, 20th, December 4th. Ir. Jan Haverkamp studied biochemistry and nuclear physics at the University of Leiden, and environmental sciences, social and environmental psychology and communication psychology at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He worked 10 years in the development of environmental NGOs in Eastern Germany, Czecho-Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine, Albania and Croatia before he emigrated to the Czech Republic. He is founder of the ZHABA facilitators collective and a member of the International Association of Facilitators. Currently he combines the work as free-lance facilitator with consultant in energy and environment issues in Central Europe for Greenpeace and the World Information Service on Energy (WISE/NIRS). He is 46 years old and has an 11 year old daughter in Prague and a 14 year old son in the Netherlands.
