Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are the following:
understanding the differences between the Continental and the Anglo-Saxon law;
ability to assess the importance of the 18th and 19th century codifications;
ability to compare the constitutional development of the most important European states and the US;
recognizing the main characteristics of the law and state development in the first half of the 19th century;
describing the specific features of the particular totalitarian regimes of the 20th century and its legal systems;
explaining the incentives of the interwar integration tendencies.

  • Development in periods.
  • Perception of Roman law in Modern Period.
  • Most important codification of 18th and 19th centuries.
  • Differences in development of continental and English law.
  • Constitutional Development of European states and USA.
  • Characteristics of law and state development in the II. half of 19th century.
  • Totalitarian regimes in 20th. Century.
  • Characteristic features of law in 20th century.
  • State suvereighnity and European integration.
