Solid Knowledge of Fundamentals of International Public Law and European Union Law. Knowledge of Basic Rules of Enforcement and Sanctions in International Public Law and European Union Law.

Course objectives
This subject intends to provide students with the survey and deeper understanding of enforcement and sanctions in public international law and EU law.
Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of international and EU law, namely enforcement and sanctions. - student will be able to identify the controversial points regarding the above issues. - Student will be able to critically think on the above issues, with a partiular focus on the type of sanctions (state, international organizations, especially UN and EU) . . Student will understand wider legal background related to enforcement and sanctions, including the specificities of international and EU law.

  • 1. Enforcement and Sanctions: General Introduction, Specificities of International Public Law and EU law 2. Peaceful Settlement of Disputes (ICJ: including proviional measures and advisory opinions) 3. Chapter VI. and VII. of the UN Charter 4. Use of Force (UN Charter, self-defence)
