Prerequisites

The students are expected to finalize the work done during the previous terms. The aim of the course is to expose the students to various types of authentic legal texts - both written and oral. The students are expected to show their command of English in writing as well as orally. They are expected to reach at least upper intermediate level, present their academic skills and to show their legal English expertise.

Course objectives
At the end of the course, students will be able to prepare and deliver a well-structured presentation with the use of visual aids on a specialized topic. They will be exposed to various types of authentic legal texts - both written and oral, so that by the end of this semester they will be ready to take the final examination. Students will sit a mock test as designed for the Impact project.

Assessment methods
The examination consists of three parts: continuous assessment during the term, written test and oral examination.
Continuous assessment: active participation in the class and oral or written presentation of a legal topic
Written part: 60 minutes
- controlled cloze test (in the first part deleted expressions will be given in Czech and students will translate them to stuit the context, in the second part there will be underlined expressions in English to be translated into Czech
- providing definitions
- language focus exercises (e.g. sentence transformation, word-formation, prepositions)
- reading comprehension
- listening
Oral part:
text - reading, summary, comments and discussion
