Course objectives
At the end of the course, the student will be able to communicate on professional basis in an international legal context and use French as a working language when dealing with his/her Francophone colleagues. The student will be able to analyze and interpret contractual documents, legal texts, judicial decisions, articles and statements. The student will also grasp the skills of independent writing (drawing up reports, minutes and articles) and independent speaking (discussions, negotiations and information exchanges). By virtue of these acquired skills, the student will be able to pass an international examination in legal French.

  • Sample tests aimed at the four basic communication skills, i.e. reading comprehension, writing, listening and speaking will be analyzed during the course. Topics : The Division of Law, European Community Law, Sources of Law
  • Persons Working in Administration of Justice, Courts and Court Structure
  • Employment Law, Contracts of Employment, Employment Relationships
  • Commercial Law and Company Law, Business Entities, Contracts.

Teaching methods
The instruction will be held in the form of seminars, two teaching units a week. Students will receive teaching materials for self-study in advance; the materials will be analyzed and interpreted during seminars to meet the requirements of the international examination. Instruction Techniques: analysis of legal texts, tests, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, independent speaking and writing. Teamwork will be used during elaboration of a case study and its oral presentation. The results analysis will also be carried out as teamwork
Assessment methods
The final assessment will depend on the results of five continuous tests and the quality of the team project. Structure of the tests: Filling in the blanks using legal language (terms and sentences), listening comprehension (questions with controlled answers, questions with open answers). The required success rate of tests is 55% (the maximum test score is 100 pts, the minimum score is 55 pts). Students are obliged to achieve attendance of 70%.
