- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
1.Develop an appreciation of the importance of ICT (International Commercial Transactions) in the training of future lawyers.
2.Recognize the global and local trends affecting the practice of ICT.
3.Understand the intersection between ICT as private international law, with the broad areas encompassing ITL (International Trade Law).
4.Analyze the major issues in the selected cases of legal disputes related to ICT.
5.Identify the major issues lawyers face in negotiating and drafting agreements related to ICT. - Syllabus
- I. Introduction to the legal setting of ICT:
- A. Place of Establishment, Agency, Distributorship, Contract Manufacturing, Franchising, Technology Transfer
- B. Problems in transactions between businesses located in the different countries
- C. Letters of Credit and other payment mechanisms
- D. Protecting intellectual property
- E. Legal ethics in ICT
- F. Cultural issues in ICT
- G. Electronic Commercial Transactions
