Cíle předmětu
This course will help students to better understand the rights and obligations associated with the EU citizen’s rights of free movement and thus improve the practical application of the relevant EU rules. The lectures will focus on how the key provisions of Directive 2004/38 (the ”EU Ciizenship Directice“) have been interpreted by the ECJ.
Výstupy z učení
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- understand and explain who and under which circumstances is entitled to the right of free movement;
- distinguish between the different types of free movement rights;
- know the limitation of the right of free movement;
- make deductions based on the fundamental rulings of the ECJ in the field of free movement rights.
Osnova
  • 1. Introduction — Beneficiaries (EU citizens, third-country nationals).
  • 2. Right of exit and entry.
  • 3. Right of residence (short-term, medium-term, permanent).
  • 4. Restrictions on grounds of public policy, public security and public health.
  • 5. The free movement of workers in particular.

Metody hodnocení
Exam consisting of five (5) single select multiple choice questions and one (1) essay question. During the exam each student will be required to work individually without consulting other students. The exam will be graded on a pass/fail basis.
