Course objectives
At the end of the course students will have basic knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry including clinical biochemistry.
Syllabus
  • Basic chemical terms, concentration, electrolytes. Test 1 (calculations). pH, acids, bases, buffers, osmotic pressure. Test 2 (pH calculations). Redox reactions. Test 3 (redox reactions). Biochemical analyzators, biological material, blood collection. Test 4 (methods). The overview of metabolism, digestion of nutrients, main metabolic pathways in sugars, lipids, and proteins.

Assessment methods
First condition is full attendance in all lessons. The next condition is to achieve at least 50 % of points from tests 1-4. If not, students write the credit test with the 30 questions in the last week of the semester. The limit for passing the credit test is 14 points.
