Course objectives
Seminars are complementary to Medical chemistry lecture (VSLC011p). The knowledge of general, inorganic, and (bio)organic chemistry, required in the end of VCLC011p, is thoroughly practiced during Medical chemistry seminars.
Syllabus

  • Test (Basic laboratory calculus.). Reaction kinetics, the law of chem. equilibrium.
  • Energy in chemical reactions, free energy and equilibrium, relationship between standard free energy change and equilibrium constant. English (and some Latin) names of inorganic compounds.
  • Dissociation of weak and strong electrolytes, activity of ions, ionic strength, osmolality.
  • Test (Reaction kinetics, thermodynamics of chemical changes, solutions of electrolytes; nomenclature of inorganic compounds).
  • Protolytic reactions, pH of acid, base, and salt solutions, buffers, calculations.
