The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
Course objectives
The goal of the subject is the introduction of the students into the basic types, properties, and processing techniques of the materials that are (or that were) in use in the spectacle manufacturing practice. The subject explains the procedures of manufacturing the spectacle frames and lenses with respect to the used materials, introduces individual types of spectacle lenses available on the market, and describes the surface finishing procedures that improve the optical, physical, and esthetical parameters of the lenses in order to comply with the contemporary standards. The students can verify and complement most of the knowledge obtained during the lectures in other subjects.

  • 1) Glass - definition, quality, production 2) Production of sferical and torical mineral spectacle lenses 3) Organics materials for spectacle lenses production 4) Spectacle lenses on correction of presbiopia 5) Special spectacle lenses 6) Finish processing of spectacle lenses - thin films ( coatings ) 7) Finish processing of matter of spectacle lenses 8) UV light - safety filters 9) Ultrasound and ther exploiting in optical praxis 10) Eye prothesis - sortes, production Seminars: Work card, assess of prescriptions, model situations Excursion: Europtik
