Course objectives
The subject is conceived as practical exercises and clinical internships. The introductory part of the course is conducted in a specialized classroom (practical pediatric exercises), and the main teaching takes place as clinical placements in pediatric workplaces. The aim is to get an overview of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, emergency and dispensary care in pediatrics. Learning outcomes: Understanding the developmental specificities of particular periods of childhood, acquiring the basics of care for a healthy and sick child in individual ages, understanding the specifics of nursing care in hospitalized children, understanding the specifics of nursing care of children with selected diseases, managing the nursing care organization. Students will be able to define pediatric patients in pediatric workplaces: define the specifics of the nursing process, identify needs, formulate nursing problems, and formulate nursing diagnoses, establish a nursing care plan and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions, use nursing and health care documentation, and record status changes according to competencies student.

  • Organization of child care in the Czech Republic. Legal documents in pediatrics.
  • Preventive and dispensary care in pediatrics.
  • Growth and development of the child. Assessment of psychomotor development.
  • Nutrition of newborns, infants, toddlers and other age categories of children.
  • Pediatric investigation methods. Assessment of vital functions in children.
  • Newborn physiological, pathological. The most common birth defects.
  • Nursing care in children with selected illnesses, focusing on the specifics of care in a child patient.
  • Drug administration in pediatrics.
  • Collaboration with a sick child's family.
  • Pedagogical and pedagogical activities in pediatrics.
