Course objectives
The support of education of the subject First aid is the e-learning course which should help the student to study with multimedial support of the First aid tuition. The subject First aid is classify as a theoretical and practical with a superiority of practical activities in relation with first paramedical aid. Main objectives of this course are identified in the cognitive, psychomotoric and also moral and ethical level and could be summarised as follows: At the end of this course students will be able to: - express and explain the basic information concerning the first aid policy in the Czech Republic and according the law system in the Czech Republic - to know basic principles and rules acocording to the process of the basic first aid -to manage intervention and actions in the emergency situation -to learn basic skills of the transport of victims, of the dressing and bandaging of the victims and basic skills during the BLS (Basic life support with using of the elementary equipment according the new guidelines of ERC 2005. - to use the scientific sources (electronical, books etc.) - - to define the necessity of effectiveness and holistic help during the first aid rendering - the students will be able to work according the EBM in the individual way - and use the PICO frame for the small researches in relation to independent work (homeworks)
Learning outcomes
After completing the interactive e-learning course, the student will be able to:
decide on the correct first aid procedure according to established recommendations and guidelines
Define basic algorithms for first aid
describe the processes leading to the rescue of human life in various model situations.
Syllabus
  • Curriculum: - Meaning, importance and diferentiation of the first aid. - Legislation concerning the frst aid in the Czech Republic. - Chain of survival and the parts of it. - Examination of the victims in the first aid. - First-aid kit box component and igredient. the different kind of bandages. - Criteria of application and using of the special kind of bandages and gauzes. - Unconsciousness- basic life support with equipment (AED - Automatical external defibrilator) and without any tools. - Injury - Thermic - burn, coldnes - frostbite etc. - Injury of articulation, bones, tendon and spinal cord. - Injury of chest, abdomen, eyes, ears, noses,pharynx. - Rapid delivery - childbearing. - Polytrauma, drowning, intoxication. - Firts aid by the victim with acute hearth failure, stroke, epilepsia, diabetes. - Case studies

Teaching methods
This is an e-learning course designed to support frontal and contact education. Students are required to study the teaching materials in each topic (modules) and actively participate in a discussion where problems of problem learning are solved. They also participate in practical exercises where first-aid model situations are practiced.
Assessment methods
The tuition in the e-learnig course is processed as a part time study and in connection with information from the frontal full time tuition. Evaluation in the e-course is one element of the evaluation in the subject First aid and active attendance in the e-learning activities (e.g. regular report in the discussions in the each module or active approach to problem solving according the Evidence Based Healthcare and PICO frame from the students is needed).
