BZAJ0121 English language I - practice
A successful completion of the first semester with a credit test, which reflects the individual language skills. In September when entering the course, the participants reach a minimum level of B1 of CEFR, upon which it is built further on.

Course objectives
At the end of the course students are able to describe and explain terms related to the selected paramedical issues: the characteristics of a paramedic; routine work days of a paramedic; elementary concepts of the communication in emergency situations; students are able to apply medical/paramedical technical language as well lay language in paramedic-patient communication; interpret paramedicine-related technical texts; use grammar structures typical of the technical language of the field; discussion phraseology - discussing disputable issues, discussion case reports; giving and defending one´s own opinion in a peer group.

Assessment methods
The final assessment involves the following components: delivering a presentation in the target language, written examination test, spoken examination; attendance and motivation/lesson participation. The semester will be completed with a written and spokne examination. The test involves topics covering both the autumn and spring semesters. The cut-off point in the written part of the examiantion is 60%, it reflects the individuallanguage skills and also the professional technical content tackled in the lessons and e-learning activities. The in-class works puts stress on the spoken communication. The spoken examination assess, among others, accuracy and fluency in the student performance and tackles the topic as encountered in the in-class work.

Information on completion of the course: Studenti se státní jazykovou zkouškou, příp. jejím ekvivalentem (TOEFL, FCE apod.) mohou, ale nemusí, vykonat zkoušku dříve v semestru po domluvě s vyučující
